How long have you been shooting:  I have been shooting for just under 1 year

Do you remember what your first experience with shooting was like, what happened, etc:  My first experience was scary, nervous but then crazy super exciting! The S2A coaches were educated and so helpful!

Do you shoot anything outside of handguns (rifle, shotgun, etc):  I took and passed the shotgun NRA course, but prefer pistols.

What caliber do you prefer:  9mm. But my 22 is fun for target/plinking around.

Special Certifications in shooting:   NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Basic Shotgun, and S2A Line Coach Certification

What made you want to start shooting:  This is a funny story. I won 2 guns at 2 separate raffles and had never owned a gun or shot a gun. Dukes gun shop basically told me I needed to go to a S2A meeting! (And I did)

What do you like best about shooting:  I like the feeling of learning and accomplishment in shooting.

What made you want to get involved in Sisters of the Second Amendment (S2A):  S2A definitely has a wonderful supportive group of ladies

What do you want men to know about S2A:  That  S2A is a group of educated ladies! We can shoot too!!

What do you like the most about S2A:  S2A is welcoming to all ages and shooting levels.

Any special tips that you can offer to new shooters:  Learn the 3 safety rules and listen to the coaches!

Why do you think women specific clubs like this are important:  S2A is important because in life we are to always educate and keep learning!

Any other hobbies/talents outside of shooting:  I enjoy going on trips, favorites are the beach and Las Vegas. I also enjoy boating either out on the fishing boat or taking the ski boat out! As long as I'm with family and friends!

How long have you been shooting:  Since April 2014

Do you remember what your first experience with shooting was like, what happened, etc:  As I approached the starting point to aim, my heart was beating a little bit faster, I could feel my palms sweating (just a little), and I swallowed with a big gulp … you know that gulp that you take and it feels like you are swallowing an apple. I aimed, I fired, and I was hooked! I will remember that first shot for the rest of my life. I could feel the blood flow through my veins, I could feel life. That feeling was so exhilarating.

Do you shoot anything outside of handguns (rifle, shotgun, etc.): I love shotgun. I shoot trap regularly and also shoot sporting clays.

What caliber do you prefer: 22 for plinking, 9mm for self defense

Special Certifications in shooting: NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor, NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, and Basic Pistol Course

What made you want to start shooting: I had a desire to be able to protect myself

What you like the best about shooting: The focus it gives me. When I am shooting, I don’t think about anything else.

What made you want to get involved in Sisters of the Second Amendment (S2A): I wanted to shoot with other women and share the experience and excitement about firearms with women who felt that they needed a place to be able to learn.

What do you want other ladies to know about S2A:  You will learn, you will have fun. We all want to share our love and knowledge of firearms with other women.

What do you like the most about S2A: The comradery

Any special tips that you can offer to new shooters: I feel that it is best to start with a 22. It is my belief that it is the perfect gun for the first time shooter. It has very little kick, and it is easy to handle. I am so glad that I started my first shot with a 22. I feel like it helped me begin with the confidence that I needed.

Why do you think women specific clubs like this are important: There aren’t clubs like this out there where women can gather and learn. We offer training in shooting, but we also offer other life skills like self-defense, the legal side of gun ownership, and other topics. We are a one stop shop for women who want it all.

Any other hobbies/talents outside of shooting: Making jewelry, crafting, community volunteer.
